8 Caribbean Destinations You Can Fly To Direct From Denver

Updated on: April 28, 2024

Looking to escape the winter weather and plant yourself on a tropical beach? Luckily, Denver International Airport has quite a few nonstop flights to the Caribbean.

Here’s where – and when – you can fly nonstop to the Caribbean from DEN.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Until Frontier Airlines started direct service from DEN to Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ) in February 2023, it was a major hassle for Coloradans to get to Jamaica. Your options were between bad and worse (think super early morning flights, 10 hour layovers and more) – so much so that you were probably better off going somewhere else.

So, it was a very welcome route addition from Frontier. And United Airlines recently announced that they will be starting daily service from DEN to MBJ in November 2023.

How to get there:

Nassau, Bahamas

The Bahamas is an archipelago consisting of numerous islands and cays, and Nassau is an ideal starting point for island hopping.

People visit the Bahamas for its stunning white sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters, and vibrant marine life, making it perfect for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The islands also offer rich history, distinctive culture, delicious cuisine, and a variety of recreational activities like boating and fishing. The Bahamas is also known for its friendly locals and relaxed, laid-back atmosphere.

How to get there:

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

People visit the Cayman Islands for their stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life, ideal for water sports like snorkeling and diving. The islands offer unique experiences like Stingray City and bioluminescent bays. Additionally, the Cayman Islands’ year-round tropical climate, diverse culinary scene, and status as a major offshore financial center make them a popular destination.

How to get there:

San Juan, Puerto Rico

An exotic Caribbean destination with no passport requirements for US travelers? Yes please!

Puerto Rico attracts visitors looking to explore its vibrant culture, Spanish architecture, beautiful beaches, unique water sports opportunities, and the El Yunque National Forest.

It’s also a popular beginning and end point for many Caribbean cruises.

Puerto Rico is another destination that’s historically been very hard for Denver residents to travel to, and this is all changing soon.

How to get there:

Roatan, Honduras

Roatan is the largest of the Bay of Islands in Honduras, and is located in the Caribbean Sea off the northern coast of Honduras. It’s known for its beautiful sandy beaches, coral reefs rich in marine life and tropical rainforests, attracting tourists interested in diving, snorkeling, and ecotourism.

How to get there:

Cancun, Mexico

Yes, Cancun is in Mexico (obviously), but it’s located on the eastern coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, which borders the Caribbean Sea.

Cancun is well-known for its beaches, which have the distinctive white sand and turquoise waters associated with Caribbean destinations. It’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean region, famed for its vibrant nightlife, luxurious resorts, and rich history, including its proximity to ancient Mayan ruins.

It’s also very easy to get there from Denver.

How to get there:

Cozumel, Mexico

Similar to Cancun, Cozumel is part of Mexico, but it’s in the Caribbean region, which is why it’s made our list.

Cozumel is an island in the Caribbean Sea, located off the eastern coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, near Cancun. It’s known for its beautiful beaches, clear turquoise waters, and vibrant coral reefs, and is a popular destination for scuba diving, snorkeling, and other water activities.

How to get there:

Belize City, Belize

Although it’s part of Central America, Belize is also considered part of the Caribbean region due to its geographic location (it’s bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the east), culture, and history. The country is known for its biodiversity, tropical rainforests, and the Belize Barrier Reef, which is the second largest coral reef system in the world. This makes Belize a popular destination for nature lovers and scuba diving enthusiasts.
